The Goal

Hey All,

First off welcome to the blog, feel free to leave any comments below.

A little bit about me. My name is Rory Clancy . I love running and in the last year I’ve started doing Tri-athlons and Adventure races. Its something that I find so tough and so challenging that I want to keep doing it and keep on challenging myself and keep getting better.

Anyway so whilst I’m off having fun and challenging myself I wanted to try to raise some funds for charity. There are two charities that are very close to my heart Myasthinia Gravis Association and Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. Now more than ever they could do with continued support. However everybody could do with support at this time so rather than be greedy and keep coming back to people throughout the year all I’m asking for 1 euro per event.

Why, I hear you ask, am I parting with 12 of my hard earned euro?. In 2010 I will do 12 events in 12 months for your donation of 12 euro, hence the title of the Blog . The interesting part is that none of these events will be less than 10 miles in total (in fact the long ones will be about 60-80 Km). The events are all posted on the plan page and are made up of Tri-athlons, Adventure Races, Duathlons and one full Marathon ( Im cringing even typing that)

This Blog will allow you to witness the blood, (hopefully none) sweat (lots of it) and tears (big boys do cry)  all from the comfort of your chair. You will see what Im doing, when Im doing it and where I’m doing it. In addition I’ll be updating this Blog regularly with training reports, race reports and also general information keeping people up to date with how the fund-raising is going. I’ll also try to include as many photos as possible to give ye a flavour of the day.

So thats it,  I havent set atarget for how much money Im hoping to raise for the two charities . Every cent helps.I realise that people are very generous and may not be able to support me, and so there’s no pressure. Still if you like the concept then be sure and tell your friends (especially if they have deep pockets :-)   ). The goal is to get as much money as possible to the people who are making a real difference to people every day. If youd like to donate its all explained here.

Many thanks in advance for your support. Looking forward to chatting with ye on and off throughout the year.

Rory
