An update
Many of you may be looking at the blog and wondering if I have fallen off the face of the earth.
Well I havent Ive been out there doing the events as planned but between one thing and another ive been too busy to blog. I was compiling an update a couple of weeks ago following on from a succesful Galway bay half marathon when I got news which knocked me back on my ass. Its that news that Id like to blog about and next post Ill be back to my normal self.
One of my earliest memories is when i was growing up any my cousins from up the road any my family used to play together . We walked to the same small country school together, hung out at each other houses and over the years as we grew up that bond remained. As I grew up and became an average runner at best I often ran with one of my more talented cousins, Nuala. Nuala was a gifted runner and no matter the distance or the pace she made it look easy. She was a marathon runner having successfully completed, Paris and Dublin. She brought the same enthusiasm to running as she did to music. If the Killers were on or if the Boss was on then the rest of the world had to quiet down. She was incredibly outgoing and you couldnt go anywhere with her without stopping and chatting to people. She was also incredibly kind. Any race I ever did with her no matter how far ahead of me she was, she was always at the finish line waiting to ask how I got on. She was modest to a fault about her own abilities. Nuala passed away at the start of this month and I wont ever be able to run again without feeling like shes with me. Nuala well catch up with you later until then well miss you .
It seems hard at a time like this to get out there and do the miles but it is its own therapy. Ill update soon with details on the Achill Roar and Galway bay Half and the plan for the remainder of the year.
Until then peace out all,
Rory
